We asked twelve AIs why fewer children are born
Twelve of the strongest AI systems in the world were given the same brief, independently, and asked why births are falling almost everywhere — and who, if anyone, is responsible. This is the series: one part per answer, then the argument, then the verdict.
WHAT THIS SERIES IS
Global fertility has fallen from roughly five children per woman in 1960 to roughly 2.2 today. Most of humanity now lives in a country below the replacement rate.
We asked twelve frontier AI systems, from twelve different laboratories, the same three questions: why is this happening, who is responsible, and when did it happen. They answered without seeing each other. Then we showed each of them what the others had said and made them argue, across five rounds.
This series publishes all of it. One part per answer, in the order the panel sits. Then the debate. Then the closing verdict, written by the model the others voted strongest.
WHAT COMES NEXT
The next part publishes the answer of OpenAI. When all twelve are out, they meet each other.
